Letter dated September 15, 2008 (continued)

...Mary, and I worked with the children at the orphanage for 2 weeks in the areas of science, math, art, English, music you can see...geography. The older children painted a mural of the world on the wall of their school. Since there are no books or posters in the school, this is a welcome teaching tool for all of the grades.

Peace, DEB

Dear Deborah and friends at Lord of the Mountains,

I greet you all in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

First of all, I would like to thank you for your support of the children and seniors homes in Jeremie. The hurricanes are affecting us and our ability to help people.

Secondly, the farms who represent the source of income are mostly destroyed ; most families depends on the harvest season to send their children to school, to feed themselves now it is all gone, washed away. Their animals, the second source of income for them are lost. For those who were in shelters don't know when they will return homes because it is no longer exist. We have 300 homes damaged, 60 completely destroyed and more than 1500 family members are waiting for some kind of help. We must react and find ways to help them. It is a lot of pressure from the communities for help or assistance.

Thirdly, though there has been a crisis on food in the country with the passage of the many storms that destroyed mostly all the plantations will put us in a sad situation. Your contribution to the elderly home means a lot to us and to the Jeremie circuit because "God loves those who give with joy".

Fourthly, we have a list of about 50 students that we are trying to find tuition fees for so that they will remain in school. As leaders it is tough for us to say no to those parents since we know what just happened is hard for them to regenerate income right now. That is the reason we are trying to find friends or church leaders that can help supporting one or more because the situation right now is uncertain for some parents. The cost to send one to school is $300USD.

Finally, we would like to welcome you to any visitation that you would like to do to visit Jeremie. Debbie the World still looks beautiful and know that the students, teachers and parents will enjoy it. This is the kind of activities that bind us as.

Once again, thank you for all your support and your continuing prayers.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Dorcely
